a student bikes back home, a bit disgruntled, from showing up to his 5 hour lecture an hour early. on the corner of the campus, an elementary latina girl in her private school uniform and studious spectacles walks up to passing student, selling chocolates, with her tired mother sitting, watching, content.
they figure, USC, wealthy kids. they could spare a dollar or two. of course nobody stops. im so impressed by the effort of this little girl. she's fearless, going up to almost everyone that passes her.
the mother has one of those real human faces. its a visage. its weathered. i want to take a picture of it but it would be weird in this context to approach her for one.
i didnt stop for this girl. im not as wealthy as the other kids at school, but i didnt stop either. i hope she's still there.

I saw her. I also don't exactly have the luxury of buying a cookie at the moment... but bravo to her!
